What first attracted you to the class? The "Thief/Rogue"/ aspect of the class of course.
What do you like about it that makes you want to keep playing it? Always loved the stealth or quick high damage classes..Like Rogues or Thiefs in other games..Shadowstepping+Daggers+Quick deaths to 60 Al's is just fun to me ^^
Any favorite skills? Wastrel's Collapse..Couple More, Can't name them off the top of my head at the moment.
What is your least favorite aspect of the class? Would you change it if you could? Absolutely not, It takes patience..Knowing your target, and good timing in my opinion. Requires no fixing.

Soooo many reasons why I play my Assassin, the least of which is Shadow Form.
1) Great looking armor
2) Unblockable Dagger Chains FTW
3) Shadow-Stepping though not ultimately effective is still fun
4) Yeah, Shadow Form. I use it, who hasn't. But I'll live without it if IT happens...
5) How many classes can Assassins play effectively? Critical Scythe, Critical Barrage, Critical Sword if you wanted. Not to mention Daggers again...
6) And in a twisted kind of way it's fun to see people rant about assassins and how over used they are.
Did I mention Katanas? Ninja FTW

I'll tell you why I play sin (among my other chars) now....
1. Crit scythe build is fun as hell
2. Can run many of the zbounty/zmish for my other acct (and vice versa)

I first made my Assassin because I had just gotten Factions, and wanted to create a new character. I picked Assassin because I like to try and replicate various RP characters of mine, and I was able to do so the most easily with that profession for a certain character of mine.
Honestly, I really don't play my Assassin much anymore. She was my main for a short time, the first character I fully leveled up, but once I got Nightfall and made my Dervish my Assassin started to collect dust. She's finished most of EOTN and gotten Monument armor, but that's about it. I haven't even gotten far enough through Factions to get Moebius Strike, and I just really can't come up with anything I like to play with as her. I've done both crit scythe and crit Barrage and I really don't care much for either. I like using daggers, but dagger chains basically consist of "roll your face on the keyboard and you're good".

Because I need a Melee pg, I don't like Warrior (too slow) and I think Dervish is less powerful than an Assassin.
Now I love my Moebius Strike build, very funny to play.
Then, I think this 3d is so mischevious because, for half of GW, Assassin = SF, the other half hates SF. I'm here to explain my idea. I didn't hate SF, I hate the abuse of SF. Just for information, has someone read the description of Skeleton of Dhuum introduced is UW for Halloween event? If you didn't, I report last line:
Quote:
Skeletons of Dhuum were introduced to help curb the practice of speed clearing and solo farming in the Underworld, as their attacks ignore most defensive skills including Shadow Form.
|
Since yesterday this description, was a little different (sorry, I didn't saved this description), but I think that is clear that people want a modification of SF.
Just see that PvX has the SPEED CLEAR category. I'll report the descritpion:
Quote:
Controversy
A select group of players were initially driven to faster times by a series of competitive threads on GWGuru, where it was first shown that speed clears halved the time of conventional builds. In response to the change in Ursan Blessing, speed clears became mainstream and the average time to complete elite areas significantly dropped. As a result, speed clear builds were, and still are, the focus of skill changes in PvE. Examples of this include the previous changes in Cry of Pain and Ray of Judgment and the imminent change to Shadow Form.

I liked the step in, attack, step out thing on sins. Used him in GvGs to gang.. It dropped out of meta and then deleted. Too boring to play imo, Warriors are far more interesting.

Agreed. Sins are easier to play, and usually a bad player is "ok" with a sin but a bad player playing a war is "PvE this way --->" basically. Wars require a brain to play effectively .

Q:What first attracted you to the class?
A:Rogue style , i was an Abyss Walker on Lineage2 so , had to try sin on GW.
Q:What do you like about it that makes you want to keep playing it?
A:Its DPS style and piss off ppl/mobs.
Q:Any favorite skills?
A:Critical Agility ofc and a Good Blades of Steel combo.
Q:What is your least favorite aspect of the class? Would you change it if you could?
A:Shadow Steps , they are good but need some changes in PvE. I would change Shadow Form to a some kind of Stealth . Its a Broken skill.

I was drawn to the assassin class my the description on the Guild Wars site. Not the wiki, but the actual site. Said something to the effect of "Masters of swift and lethal assaults." I actually bought Factions just to try it out. Soon thereafter deleted said assassin. Remade it about 6 months later when I had a better grasp of the game and how it works.
If your definition of "playing" is using the ever hated permaform to help find Nick, then yeah, I play still. The last time my assassin saw serious play was about 4 months ago, when I finally got around to beating the Factions campaign.
Beguilling Haze.
Yeah, I know what you're all going to say... expensive, waste of an elite, focus on DPS. Blah blah blah.
The reputation you get for going A/E even after you ping your bar to proove you don't have Shadow Form.

What first attracted you to the class?
When I first got factions back in the day, I wanted to play an assassin because of the rogue like play style. And the factions trailer where vizu shadowsteps shiro was pretty spiffy <.<;
What do you like about it that makes you want to keep playing it?
While my sin is not a main character, I enjoy various builds with it. Setting up a combo chain for various dagger builds is fun. Back in the day A/Mo flashing blades was a fun farming build (before hardmode/loot-scaling/all the anti-farming junk)
The old A/E SF boss farm build was also fun. For those that don't remember it, it used shadow walk. Target boss, SF, shadow walk, sliver, hope boss died within the 30 second window of SF duration and before shadow walk ported you back to initial location.
Critscythe is a fun build to play. (Just wish there was 1 decent looking scythe in game. The one in the art for mystic regen would be nice)
And 1.5k Luxon Armor set on female sin. Vabbian is nice except I dislike how the boots do not match the pants.
Any favorite skills?
no, not really, not really a main so yeah.
What is your least favorite aspect of the class? Would you change it if you could?
That they changed Dragon Scythes to Dragon Kamas because idiots couldn't tell the difference between them and a derv scythe. Hate when mmos cater to stupidity. And yes if I could revert that I would, and maybe even make a dervish scythe that looked like a large dragon scythe, (would look a lot better than the draconic scythe imo)

What first attracted you to the class?
The initial description of the Profession: quick in, priority kill, quick out (paraphrased, ofc). It was a melee Profession (which is what I prefer) that didn't depend on armor as much as it did maneuverability (Shadow Steps - oh yeah, they all have stupid-long recharges... meh) to survive. I wanted a change from my Warrior, but I still wanted a physical rather than caster Profession.
What do you like about it that makes you want to keep playing it?
My Assassin is one of my Mules, at the moment. I used to have a difficult time finding parties when I first rolled the 'Sin, now all they want is PermaSF, which is one of the most broken messes ANet's devs have ever had a hand in, and either way, it was a buzzkill.
Any favorite skills?
Golden Fox Strike > Wild Strike - just a killer lead > offhand combo; both are unblockable, and Wild Strike ends Stances, which are usually the perpetrators of the blocking in the first place.
What is your least favorite aspect of the class? Would you change it if you could?
Shadow Form and the Shadow Steps. SF is just plain broken, seeing as how it is infinitely maintainable with so few drawbacks there might as well not be any. Shadow Steps in general because their recharges make them undesirable to use, even though they are a key difference between Assassins and the other 2 main melee Professions, Warriors and Dervishes (since Assassins can use Scythes like nobody's business and Critical Agility gives them equivalent AL to Warriors).

i pwn with it.
Any favorite skills?
twisting fangs and blades of steel.
What is your least favorite aspect of the class? Would you change it if you could?
long recharges on good skills. weak numbers, due to nerfs, on skills with otherwise cool effects. yes i would change it.

Isn't this thread called "Why do you play an Assassin?"
Yeah, seems to be.
If you want to debate HB warriors vs msdb sins why not make a thread about it.

It would be closed, as this thread most likely will be. But I do see some good points getting thrown out.
